Home note – Grade 5 January 7th , 2009 Week 17 Dear parent(s) and/or guardian(s), Wow ! What a wild week we had before and during Christmas. No doubt everyone has stories to tell. We ended up celebrating with friends as no family could travel south. So it goes. 1. Lunch time every week: 11:10 2. Citizen of the Week: Sydney Joss 3. Please returned the highlighted midterm if you have not done so already. Remember to sign it. 4. Looking ahead : 1-9 L.E.S.T. Logo and art due 1-14 K-5 Christmas worship at 8:30 a.m. Staff lunch 1-23 end of quarter 1-27 reenrollment for 2009-2010 2-3 to2-4 Open House 2-12 to 2-14 L.E.S.T. in Portland 5. I pray you had a blessed celebration of Christ’s birth! 6. Each student must have an inexpensive calculator as part of their school supplies here at school. Thanks!! 7. Home note – Grade 5 NO LION’S PAW THIS WEEK December 17th , 2008 Week 16 Dear parent(s) and/or guardian(s), 1. Lunch time every week: 11:10 2. Citizen of the Week: ( combined with this week – announced next week ) 3. I am sending home midterms today; please return them ASAP. Just sign the one highlighted page; keep the rest, 4. Looking ahead : 12-19 class Christmas celebration December book report due 12-19 to 1-4-08 Christmas vacation 1-5-08 School resumes 5. Gift exchange gifts need to be here by tomorrow or Friday. If we miss school, we’ll exchange after Christmas ! I’m giving the students their gifts from me today. 6. Have a blessed celebration of Christ’s birth ! May you enjoy relaxed and peaceful time with family and friends; may you experience safe travels. 7. Inexpensive calculators would make wonderful stocking stuffers or Christmas gifts. I sent home a bound collection of the students’ writing right before Thanksgiving. Did you see and read it ?? Ask your student !! 4. Looking ahead : 12-11 Third Read-In (also mini midterm conferences between me and your student ) ( during the Read-In ) 12-15 midterms and ITBS results sent home 12-17 signed midterms due back to Mrs. S K to 5 7:00 p.m. Christmas worship 12-18 6 to 8 7:00 p.m. Christmas worship 12-19 class Christmas celebration December book report due 12-19 to 1-4-08 Christmas vacation 1-5-08 School resumes 5. Thinking and planning ahead: we will have a simple class gift exchange on the 19th of December during our party. Boys now have a boy’s name; girls have a girl’s name. $7.00 will be the firm limit on spending. Put the recipients name on the package. Do not put the giver’s name on it. For example : TO: Susy FROM : ??? 6. Welcome to Jamin Lee, our new student from Korea. Thanks to Bekah Collins and Dylan Frizzell for doing 85% of the work to get us ready for her arrival. Home note – Grade 5 December 3rd, 2008 Week 14 Dear parent(s) and/or guardian(s), 1. Lunch time every week: 11:10 2. Citizen of the Week: Israel Perez ( still - new person next week ) 3. Grandparents’ Day was a wonderful event. Thank you to those of you who helped with set up, clean up, snacks, registration, and the like. People I know of who helped were: Nanjoo Shin, Laurise Vanhoff, Lupe Perez, Cindi Ihde, Nadette Stang, Susan Collins, and Jacqueline Joss. Please let me know if I omitted your name, and I will rectify the mistake. 4. Our extended family of about thirty people will be at my Uncle Cliff and Aunt Caryl’s house in West Linn. ( as we have been off and on since I was a baby …… ) I can’t wait !! 4. Home note – Grade 5 TURN OVER THIS November 19th, 2008 NOTE TO SEE L.E.S.T. Week 12 PARTICIPANTS** Dear parent(s) or guardian(s), 1. Lunch time every week: 11:10 2. Citizen of the Week: Jade Chambers still; new person next week 3. We had a great teachers’ conference in Seaside once we all got there. I drove through DEEP water ( It was up to the bumper of the 18 wheeler coming towards us ) on Hwy 101 with Joni Swanson and Tiffany Smith encouraging me on. Pam and Vince Straub followed and made it as well. The van and car carrying everyone else were delayed as the road was closed soon after our crossing. They made it over on Thursday. Lots of adventure, all were/are safe, and God is good !! 4.
