Fourth Grade Newsletter #17                                      12-19-08


1. Vocab Tests - There is a Vocab meaning test covering words from Unit 7 on Friday, Jan. 9th (for all Vocab books).


2. Memory work due on Wednesday, Jan. 7th - The Ninth Commandment and meaning (page 9).


3. Please keep Anna and the rest of her family in your prayers during the week of Jan. 4th.


4. Teo will need to bring in items for the “Who Is It?” board on Monday, Jan. 5th.


5. The creative writing assignment due on Friday, Jan. 9th - The All School Snowball Fight.


6. Biography Reports - The reports will be presented in interview format. I will ask questions and students (pretending to be the person) will answer the questions. Students need to write down the questions for me to ask. Students also need to dress up as the person. The reports will be videotaped and should be between 3-5 minutes long. Students will do them in the afternoon, starting about 12:00.

7. Thank you to all who provided items for our Christmas party. Also, thank you to all who helped at the party.

9. There are still some students who need to show me their midterm.


10. Let me know if you would like to attend church with me at Zion. I’d love to worship with you during Christmas break.

2. Memory work due for December - Students should be memorizing songs for our Christmas worship service. Don’t forget our speaking part: “The Lord will raise up to David a righteous branch, a King who will rule wisely.”

5. There is no creative writing assignment due next week.

7. Students will make a shoebox scene for one scene from Caddie Woodlawn. Shoebox scenes are due on Monday, Dec. 15th.


8. Birthday party for Jesus - Our Christmas party is on Friday Dec. 19th from 1:15-2:30.


Ornaments will be returned after our party on Dec. 19th.


Gift exchange - Our limit is $7.00 for a gift. Girls buy for girls and boys buy for boys. Gifts may be brought to school on Monday, Dec. 15th. They will be exchanged at our party.

10. Midterms will be sent home on Monday. Please sign them and return them to school on Tuesday, Dec. 16th. I will send them back once I see your signature. I will also be sending out the ITBS scores on Monday.

1. Vocab Tests - Orange and Blue: Spelling test covering words from Units 5 and 6. Sixth: Spelling test covering words from Units 4 - 6. Bonus words: triumphant, escapades, cygnet, catastrophe, confetti, irresistible, ambitious, decency, ambulance, mosquitoes.


 



2. Memory work due for December - Students should be memorizing songs for our Christmas worship service. Don’t forget our speaking part: “

7. Accelerated Reader - Thank you to the Cebra, Heede, and Johnson families for helping to mark the AR books in our room.


8. Students will make a shoebox scene for one scene from Caddie Woodlawn. Shoebox scenes are due on Monday, Dec. 15th.


9. Birthday party for Jesus - Our Christmas party is on Friday Dec. 19th from 1:30-3:00. Room parents will be sending out information this coming week about the party.


We will have a Christmas tree in the room next week. Students can bring in 3 ornaments (on Monday) that are not fragile to hang on the tree. The ornaments will be returned after our party on Dec. 19th.
