Bible Time


This week we will be exploring the wait for Simon and Anna is over, Jesus our Savior has arrived.  We will also explore the Wiseman and what they went looking for.  


 


Memory Verse

Phonics


This week we will be covering the vowel y, combination er and trigraphs igh.  We will practice reading decodable readers 21 and 22.  We will increase our fluency with Fluency Reader 11.


 


Spelling


The list is attached to the hard copy that comes home Monday.  FYI:  Reading Groups 2 and 3 now have challenge words!


 


Grammar


We will explore present tense verbs.  Verbs are action words.


 


Literature


We will continue to read Matilda.


 


Reading


Reading Group One will read Greg’s Mask .  We will explore vocabulary, comprehension, compare/contrast, and possessives.


Group Two is covering Marc Brown’s Arthur books this week. 


Group 3 is working on Moose Meeting.


 


Math


We begin time and money.  Please review time to the hour and the names/values of coins.

Art


We will be creating snowmen and brayer painting.  We will draw a bear.  


 


Music


We will join Mrs. Brown for singing!


 


PE


We will participate in balance beam activities!


 


Social studies


We are researching Martin Luther King Jr.


 


Science


We will finish out paper this week.  Next week we begin the arctic and Antarctic; penguins and polar bears.

Library books are due on Tuesdays…place in the ‘pink’ laundry basket and we will make sure they are returned.

Our next project will be on contributions to our country from either women or people of color.  The project will be due mid January, the 20th to be exact.  Information went home!  Have you helped your child choose??

Bible Time


This week we will be exploring Jesus is Born!  Shepherds see the Savior.

This week we will be covering final stable syllables ble, fle, ple, ble, tle, gle, cle, kle, sle, zle.  We will practice reading decodable readers 19 and 20.  We will increase our fluency with Fluency Reader 10.

The list is attached to the hard copy that comes home Monday.  FYI:  Reading Groups 2 and 3 now have challenge words!

Reading Group One will read a variety of Christmas stories .  We will explore characters, settings, and plot.


Group Two is covering Marc Brown’s Arthur books this week. 


Group 3 is working on review.


 


Math


We will be working on place value to 100.   We begin time and money at the first of the year.  This is a very difficult concept for most children.  Please start discussing time to the hour and the names/values of coins.

We will be creating painted candy canes.  We will also be working on our super secret Christmas presents….shhhh.  


 


Music


We are almost ready…with our songs for Christmas worship with Mrs. Brown.

We will participate in reindeer games!


 


Social studies


We are researching Advent and Christmas around the world.


 


Science


Paper is our new unit of exploration.  This week we will discover paper folding, absorption and decorating.

Mark your calendar…we will lead worship On Wednesday, December 17th at 7:00 pm.  Please have your child in the gym by 6:45pm.  Have you signed up to help with the reception???  We need help!!!


 


Christmas Party


Our Christmas party will be Friday, December 19th, the last day before Christmas break.  We are still in need of candy for the houses, white frosting, and


 


Prayer Partners


Each child has a prayer partner to be praying for and doing random acts of kindness!!!  Has your child discussed this???

Bible Time


This week we will be exploring the rebuilding of Jerusalem and John.  It is time to get ready!  Christmas is coming and Jesus will return.
