CHRISTIAN DISCIPLINE

All children´s training should be guided by the directives of God´s Word. Each child will be treated with respect and disciplinary action will be taken as necessary. If parents feel that the disciplinary action taken was unfair or unjust, they should first contact the teacher.

Teachers are responsible for children during school hours, and it is understood that authority commensurate with that responsibility is to be given by parents. The spirit rather than the letter of the Law will be followed in these matters. The love of Christ constrains us in all of our conduct.

Other problems which occur from time to time should be discussed, as they arise, in a Christian manner. Often times, misunderstandings are the main cause of trouble between home and school.

REASONS FOR PROBATION

(A PERIOD OF TIME AS DETERMINED BY TEACHER AND PRINCIPAL DURING WHICH CERTAIN STANDARDS MUST BE MET IN ORDER TO REMAIN ENROLLED.)

  1. Continued deliberate disobedience or rebellious spirit which is unchanged after much effort by the teacher.
  2. A continued negative attitude and negative influence upon other students.
  3. Insufficient academic progress.
  4. Committing a serious breach of conduct inside or outside the school which has an adverse effect upon the witness or the school.
  5. Failure of the parents to help enforce the disciplinary procedures of the school and/or failure to follow up on recommended academic help at home.
  6. Failure of the parents to get recommended professional help for children whose needs extend beyond the confines of the regular classroom.

INVOKING PROBATION

  1. The parents are informed that probation is becoming a possibility.
  2. A student is placed on probation by a decision of the room teacher and the principal.
  3. A conference is held with the teacher, principal, parents, and the student.
  4. A written letter explaining probation and offering suggestions for parental action is sent to the parents after the conference.
  5. A copy of the letter is sent to the Chairman of the School Board Committee and to the student´s respective pastor.

SUSPENSION AND EXPULSION

A student may be temporarily suspended (maximum of 3 days) by a decision of the teacher and principal. A student may be expelled from school by the School Board Committee upon recommendation by the faculty.
